FONTAINES D.C RELEASE NEW ALBUM ‘DOPAMINE CHAMBER’

Today marks the release of Fontaines D. C’s highly anticipated fifth studio album, ‘Dopamine Chamber’.

Released via XL Recordings and produced by James Ford, the album sees the Dublin five piece lean into a much more electronic sound, and is yet another step up for the band.

‘Dopamine Chamber’ follows on from 2024’s ‘Romance’ which reached No.2 in the UK charts and went platinum as well as earning two GRAMMY nominations. The band also went on to win Group of the Year at the 2025 BRIT Awards.

Once underground favourites,‘Romance’ brought Fontaines D.C to the masses, earning them festival headline slots, including at this year’s Reading and Leeds, as well as a sold out show at London’s Finsbury Park. ‘Romance’ also laid the foundations for their latest release, and was the band’s first record to really try and build a world for their fans to step into.

Since news of their new album dropped in August, anticipation for ‘Dopamine Chamber’ has been building, with tickets for their UK arena tour – which is due to start next month – already selling out in minutes.

Lead single ‘Marianne’ and its accompanying Dave Meyers directed music video kicked off the excitement, plunging fans right into the unsettling, unfamiliar but utterly addictive world of ‘Dopamine Chamber’.

‘Dopamine Chamber’ is at once both a continuation and degradation of ‘Romance’; all of the same themes are there, but there’s a distinctly dark and twisted energy to this record. Long gone are the nostalgic, lighthearted moments like ‘Romance’s ‘Favourite’, ‘Dopamine Chamber’ feels like a return to the moody melancholy of the band’s early music, created with the sort of mature musicality that only comes from a band of their years.

The album imagines a world tipping towards collapse (I mean in 2026 that’s not too hard to envision either), and asks us to think about how pleasure mutates amid peril. Asking us to look in the mirror and think what our pursuit of pleasure at all costs reveals about us.

Dopamine Chamber takes its title from the idea of a record as a room the listener steps into. “The album itself is a dopamine chamber,” says Chatten. “You step inside and we test these different mind- or mood-altering pieces of music on you.”

The album also features their first ever collaboration on their own record. New single ‘Where Is Gone’ is a dark yet romantic ballad featuring Spanish megastar ROSALIA. The strings section elevates the track to an almost cinematic quality making it a real stand out on the album.

‘Dopamine Chamber’ is out now on all streaming platforms and from all good record stores. (Support independents where you can guys!)

The band have also teamed up with mental health charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), for a special run of limited edition CDs, with all profits going to the charity. Grab yours here. https://fontainesdc.com/collections/store
